Asked Questions |
If you have any questions which are not addressed
here regarding MegaMap, or any of our products and
services, please click
here with your questions. |
| Q:
What about network security?
A:
Network security is handled by MegaMap. When MegaMap
attempts to map a network drive, it uses the settings
specified by you, the user. You may specify to use
the default logon information for your current Windows
networking session or you may use a different user
name and password for that mapping. MegaMap stores
this information into an encrypted database for your
protection and privacy. |
| Q:
What if a mapped drive already exists with the
drive letter that MegaMap is attempting to map?
A:
MegaMap has a 'map override' for each drive mapping.
That is, if MegaMap detects that the drive letter
is already mapped, then the user can configure this
mapping to override any existing drive mappings with
that drive letter to achieve proper mapping. If override
mapping is not set, the drive will not be mapped and
the existing map will remain. |
| Q:
Can MegaMap work over a Wide-Area-Network as well
as a local area network?
A:
Yes. MegaMap can exist in any network environment
so long as there is a remote resource to map to. MegaMap
does't care where the resource is located, so long
as the resource, connection and security are intact. |
| Q:
How many mappings can MegaMap handle?
A:
Considering that there are only 26 letters in the
alphabet and drives are always mapped to a lettered-drive,
you can only have a maximum of the number of drives
that you do not have static to your system. That means,
if you have a Drive A, Drive C and Drive D, you may
may 23 drives (of course, that is 26-3=23). MegaMap
has a unique approach to handling an ever greater
number of mappings. this is by using mapped groups.
With a mapped group, you can have an unlimited number
of mappings in each group and select which group you
wish to be active. You can even have startup groups
and Dynagroups (Dynamic Drive Mapping - on
the fly). |
